The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off the southern tip of the U.S. state of Florida, between the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. They’re known as a destination for fishing, boating, snorkeling and scuba diving. In this post, I will fill you in on my stay at Isla Bella Resort, where to eat, what to do, and more!
How to get to the Florida Keys?
Due to their tropical climate, the Florida Keys attract several hundred thousand tourists annually. While some visitors arrive via Key West International Airport and Florida Keys Marathon Airport in Marathon, the vast majority of tourists drive down from the mainland on U.S. 1. Most of the route consists of just one lane. I personally drove since I live in Miami and the drive is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. For those who live further, I recommend flying into Miami International Airport and renting a car and making the scenic drive down to Isla Bella. You can make stops along the way and stay or visit other Keys, like Islamorada or Key Largo.
Keep in mind, for most of the drive through the Florida Keys, you will be driving on one lane, so unexpected accidents and traffic may effect your arrival time.
Where is Isla Bella Beach Resort located?
Perfectly located in the middle of the beautiful Florida Keys, you’ll find Isla Bella Beach Resort midway between Key West and Key Largo. Isla Bell Beach resort is located on Marathon Key right before the seven mile bridge. The address is: 1 Knights Key Boulevard, MM 47 Marathon, FL 33050.
Weather in the Florida Keys
There are two main “seasons” in the Florida Keys, a hot and wet season from June through October, and a dry season from November through April, that features little rainfall, sunny skies, and warm breezy conditions. Dry season is the most popular time of year to visit, with average highs around 75 °F (24 °C) and lows above 60 °F (16 °C). Most of the Florida Keys can become quite dry at the height of the dry season.

I celebrated my birthday at Isla Bella Beach Resort and couldn’t have picked a better place! They were so welcoming throughout our entire stay. They went above and beyond to make my birthday very special.
The resort is absolutely stunning and is the perfect place for a special celebration, romantic getaway, girls trip or even a family vacation. The rooms are so beautifully designed and spacious, you don’t even want to leave your room! Bathrooms have a bathtub, separate walk-in shower, and a gorgeous furnished outdoor living area. We enjoyed much of our time on the private balcony overlooking the water and sipping champagne.
If you choose to explore the grounds, you will find that there are areas to play games, lay by the beach or the pool. The resort holds different activities daily and prizes included drink tickets to use on property.
If you’re looking for a bite to eat, you can order room service, visit The Beach Bar or Il Positano Italian Restaurant. I highly recommend eating at Il Positano. They offer fresh pastas and pizzas made to order. The specialty cocktails are worth a try too! Click here to view their menu.
What to Do
There are quite a few things to explore in this part of the Florida Keys…
- Kayak: Arrange a 2-hour Kayak rental at the resort Marketplace for about 30 USD.
- Ride Bikes: Visit the Marketplace to arrange a complimentary bicycle rental, which is included in the resort fee. We rented bikes one day and rode over to a restaurant called Lazy Days for lunch.
- Tour of the Turtle Hospital: This hospital treats injured sea turtles and returns them back to the wild.
- Snorkel or Diving Tour: You can schedule a tour to snorkel or dive with a local company. You can even rent a boat for the day.
- Dolphin Research Centre: Observe dolphins and sea lions in action and learn about these fascinating marine mammals in their natural habitats.
- Rent a Tiki Boat: Experience the beauty of Florida from the water on a tiki boat, available for private rentals at the resort.
