Decorating a baby shower doesn’t have to automatically mean pink or blue. Using neutral tones and incorporating earthy decor with pops of gold and white can will create a serene atmosphere for guests and the mama-to-be!
I recently hosted my Boho Inspired Champagne & Bunnies baby shower at a family members home. I wanted a chic and socially intimate affair. If you know me, it only makes complete sense I would have a Champagne inspired event! In this post, I’ll show you what decorations I found and and how they were combined to create a beautifully themed baby shower your guests will be talking about. My hope is that it gives you ideas and inspiration for your own baby shower!
Welcome Sign
An introduction is a must when hosting an event! Remind guests in a beautiful way why they are attending an event with a welcome sign that makes a statement! I decided to place a welcome sign at the front door and added a balloon arch for a layered touch. You could also add flowers if you wish.
I purchased the Easel from Amazon, Picture Frame from Walmart and the custom Boho Bunny sign came as a bundle package from Etsy.
Backdrop
When it comes to party decor, having one major focal point rather than a bunch of little decor is almost always my recommendation. Having a main area to take photos is a must!
You can order an arch backdrop online from Etsy, Amazon, a party prop company, or you can DIY. In my case, it was a DIY situation, which my father actually made the arches for me. The Baby sign was purchased from Etsy. For privacy purposes, I edited out the baby’s name.
No matter what you pick, make it a soft color. This will give you freedom to add other neutral or earthy accents to create a layered look.
One impactful way to add lots of texture is a balloon garland. The one I chose for this neutral baby shower is especially great because several of the colors are double stuffed, which gives the balloons a more opaque, rich effect. To somewhat visually balance the space, I purchased 2 of the 135 piece sets from Etsy to make sure I had plenty of balloons.
I personally can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars for a professional balloon garland designer. The balloons will most likely be popped shortly after the event, therefore the balloon garland was a DIY project by my aunt and mother-in-law. I purchased an electric pump from Amazon and watched videos on how to make a balloon garland, which I think came out pretty awesome! If you don’t have the time, skill or patience, I recommend hiring someone to make your balloon garland, however know that it will be costly.
In addition to the balloon garland, I also created my own Boho natural dried floral arrangements in browns and creams to add to the arches. All florals and items used to create the arrangements were purchased from Amazon (Palm leaves, Dried Flowers, Floral Foam Cage, and Pampas Grass).
You can find boho floral arrangements on Etsy, if you don’t want to make it yourself, but they are pretty expensive.
Champagne Welcome Wall
Nothing like welcoming your guests with a glass of bubbly! I mean, what a cute and elegant idea?!
This champagne wall was also DIY by my father, however you can rent similar walls from party rental companies or purchase them on Etsy. I wanted a wall that would have multiple functions, like holding champagne glasses, party favors etc. I used glass champagne flutes and added a Cheers sign purchased from Etsy to blend with the theme.
Dessert Table
When you’re setting up any party, don’t forget that you can use furniture pieces you already own creatively. For instance, I used our dining room table to display the desserts at my baby shower.
Keeping true to the neutral theme, the cake was decorated with white icing and topped with a personalized baby name cake topper. For privacy reasons, I have edited out my actual cake topper, however refer to the linked topper.
In addition, cupcakes and other desserts from a local grocery store were used to elevate the table by placing them on acrylic stands and wood beaded stands.
Mom-osa Bar
Instead of mimosas, why not serve MOM-osas at a baby shower!? I set up this baby shower drink station at the edge of the kitchen island, however again if you have a beautiful piece of furniture or an actual bar area that’s even better!
I purchased different types of Champagne and Prosecco from several local grocery stores including Costco and Trader Joe’s. This is definitely your best option if you’re trying to keep your event budget friendly. If you have a bar area, having someone serve up cocktails and drinks is also a nice touch. Could be a friend, family member or a hired company.
Games & Champagne Bottle Sign
Many people like playing baby shower games, however I am not a huge fan. I wasn’t going to do any games at all, however decided to just play one. If you’re interested in playing games, here is a printable template you can use to customize games with the bunny theme for your shower.
In Lieu of a guestbook, I chose for my guests to sign a champagne bottle! I loved that idea that guests could leave a message on the bottle and my husband and I can toast to our baby when she arrives!
Table Decor
Key to getting a neutral but interesting tablescape for this baby shower was layering. To start, the tables, tablecloths and chairs were rented from a local company.
The tables were 8ft long and I used 90 x 156 tablecloths because I wanted to hide the metal legs. I used cheesecloth style table runners purchased on Amazon to decorate the center of the table and add some color.
On top of the tables, I added a combination of dried flowers and natural fresh white hydrangeas from Trader Joes. I also wanted to display framed photos from our maternity photoshoot. The vases were all purchased from Hobby Lobby (white beaded vase, wicker wrapped vase, rattan wrapped vase and square glass vase).
Food
Since my baby shower was held at noon, we decided to do more brunch style foods and skip on a heavy meal. The menu consisted of a charcuterie spread, chicken salad croissants, fruit platter, pasta salad, chicken tenders and Greek salad. All food was purchased from local grocery stores and prepared by us.
Purchasing and preparing your own food can make an event more cost effective. Clearly, depending on your budget and amount of guests attending, sometimes hiring a catering company is a better option.
Champagne Favor Display
As guests departed, we displayed mini pink prosecco bottles with “Pop It When She Pops” tags for them to take home. Even the bottle label stayed true to our neutral baby shower theme! I added a geometric table with dried flowers and a framed sign to let guests know to take a favor with them on their way out!
I thought the perfect place to display the favors would be of course, the beautiful champagne wall my father custom made. He added lighting to the shelves to really add an elegant and modern component. The Cheers sign was purchased from Etsy and is a neutral toned wood, which matched the theme perfectly.
Note: The mama-to-be did not drink Champagne, so don’t come for me! Haha!
